NASCAR doesn't need an In-Season Tournament to cater to some drivers for mediocrity. It was plain stupid for the NBA to have it because they want something to celebrate. How about try to be the best in your sport and fight to win the championship. But, as Blaze mentioned, we should see how it all plays out.

I saw comments someplace saying that this was an idea suggested by Hamlin or Dale Jr. or both. I'm indifferent on this idea.

Tbh like, this really doesn’t change much other than just giving the middle of the season something fun. Like it won’t do anything to the Championship race. You have small races, inside of the race, which could lead to fun strategy calls. Definitely some harder, more intense racing among drivers. Some driver have admitted to not pushing as hard, or doing something different after already being locked into the playoffs, surely ones who get multiple wins. It gives them something to actually make bold moves on, and reasons to try. I think it will be good, who knows.
