Helicopter carrying Iran’s president suffers a ‘crash,’ state TV says without further details

Rescuers were attempting to reach the site, state TV said, but had been hampered by poor weather conditions in the area.

A helicopter with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on board suffered a "hard landing" on Sunday, state media reported, with weather conditions complicating rescue efforts.

While Raisi's condition is unclear, state news agency IRNA said Raisi was traveling to Iran's East Azerbaijan province — in the northwest of the country, some 375 miles from the capital of Tehran — where he was inaugurating a dam.

Iran's foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, was also traveling in the helicopter, along with East Azerbaijan's governor, Malik Rahmati, it said.

Like it now comes down to whether the jury will believe Cohen or Costello, and also believing that Cohen paid Stormy off with his own money to help Trump and then stole from him at the same time, rather than Trump just giving Cohen money to pay off Stormy Daniels.

• Donald Trump’s defense rested its brief case this morning after calling just two witnesses in the criminal hush money trial in New York. Robert Costello, a lawyer who advised Michael Cohen, wrapped up his testimony earlier today.
• The prosecution rested its case Monday, after trying to rehabilitate the sometimes rocky testimony of Cohen, their key witness in the case. Prosecutors called 20 witnesses on the stand as they tried to convince jurors that Trump falsified business documents to conceal a payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and was part of an illegal conspiracy to undermine the integrity of the 2016 election.
• Trump ultimately did not take the stand, despite repeatedly saying that he would be willing to testify in his own defense. The former president has pleaded not guilty to the 34 counts of falsifying business records and has denied the affair with Daniels.
• Closing arguments are expected to take place next Tuesday.

Rudy Giuliani, two former attorneys for former President Donald Trump and several of the alleged fake electors are expected to be arraigned in Phoenix Tuesday on state criminal charges for their effort to overturn the 2020 election results in Arizona.

Former Trump attorney John Eastman was the first ally of the former president to be arraigned in the case last week.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes last month announced charges against 11 named alleged fake electors and seven people whose names are redacted in the filing for their alleged role in efforts to subvert Joe Biden's 2020 victory in the state.
