Roman Reigns, I'm sensing a backlash.

Why in the world does Reigns need a submission?

WAIT! I still don't think he needs one, but he'd probably have a badass Torture Rack.

He's very talented. At least before he showed up on the main roster.

Watch his FCW and some of his NXT stuff. They were great, and you can sense a great athlete in the ring. Then he got his singal's push and they limited him to what got a reaction from the audience. Sadly, we might have to get used to this from all WWE main eventers.

He will be fine. Some people just don't like change, but Reigns is proving already that he can keep an audiences attention in the ring. His moveset is fine, size+momentum=impact. And as far as talking goes, many others have got farther than him with less, and the 5 moves of doom, makes it that much more meaningful when a wrestler does something out of the ordinary, like Cena's Hurricanranas.

I do agree, at some point he will need a submission. But even then it should be more of a power based, like the aforementioned Torture Rack, over something flashy. Again, not for a move used often, but as something that can pander to the power game, and give him something to work with in an I Quit, or Submission match, since it seems those matches are done at least once a year now, and seems like the heelish thing to do, throw an uber-over face with no submission ability in one of those matches.

There is always going to be that good chance of getting turned on by the fans after a certain point. The more successful a guy becomes the less "cool" it becomes to root for a guy the same way you did before or at least that is the way it always comes off sometimes. I haven't seen much backlash towards Reigns yet though but it will happen esp if he does end up doing the inevitable and wins the title.

Personally I can't help but feel resentful that Ryback should of been in his position and would of made a better job of it tbh

A guy his size could pull off a decent Stretch Plumb... or just a front headlock if he's sticking to the basics. Wouldn't be too out of the realm of belief that he'd be able to choke someone out with that.

Not sure people would pop for a front chancery.

Still don't know why nobody uses an arm triangle.

If you look back over the past 30 years of wrestling at the franchise players, a la Sting, Flair, Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Rock, Austin and Cena, you'll notice that they all have one thing in common: relatively low risk moves. Stinger had the splash, the death drop, the no-sell, and the chop. Flair had the knee, the chop, the upside down turn buckle toss, the figure four, and the heart attack in the ring during his matches. Hogan had the big right, atomic drop, hulking up, the leg drop, and the big boot. Savage had the elbow drop, DDT... You guys get why I mean. They all have a set number of signature moves, nothing overly creative, and nothing to end their careers. It's all about getting the fans involved, and longevity of the career. I'm sure reigns could do more, but while being groomed as a franchise player, he has to stick to the formula.

You can't condition an audience to pop for anything if you don't establish certain moves as your own. "Innovative" spots and a million flips ain't going to get you nowhere but put into a wheelchair.

This is true. As great as HBK was in a ring, he had a sequence everyone knew and fed into. Gets Irish whipped, ducks under, comes back and hits a forearm smash to the head, kips up, drop on the nads, body slam, diving elbow, feed off the energy, tune up and boom sweet chin music. Rey was similar with the 619 setup especially when he court still do the west coast pop to end every match

All the greats like Taker, Batista, and yes I'm going there RVD and Goldberg had set sequences before a finish you knew was coming but popped for. Even the way you could watch a Hardys tag match and knew the chaun of events that would lead to poetry in motion, twist of fate, and Swanton bomb.

Reigns is being taught to not do stupid shit just for the sake of doing it. If he perfects it, he will always remain relatively over, and he will reduce his injury risk because he's not relying on doing risky shit like Bryan

I'm indifferent on the guy as I've been a Rollins guy since they debuted but I can understand why they're going ahead with the big Roman push. He's fine where he's at currently in the card as he's being protected for the most part but his mic work is definitley going to have to improve for when the long promos are needed to build big feuds leading into Mania and such.

Well with his injury, the only thing he can do is work on his promo work.

Atleast he has time on his hands to do that since working out is out of the question.

He needs to get himself angry on the mic. Right now he just sounds like he could care less.
