To me, the casual fan nowadays, I remember him being a killer in NJPW, coming back, Bullet Club shenanigans with KENTA, and losing to Orange Cassidy. I'm sure he's had some decent matches but holy shit Orange killed whatever momentum he had. Hopefully he gets a much better run but sadly seems like he'll be regulated to smaller storylines and ROH.

That's not really true, he's wrestled plenty of normal matches. Not to mention pure rules is only no closed fists no its not really even a style and more of a match ruleset

You've got your history completely wrong. He never came back a killer, got in trouble with njpw when his match w Narita changed to a real match in real time by Shib n got heat. I was there live for shibata showing up at fd1, oc absolutely did not stop his momentum....he had none to begin with as he was not being used. Was a massive shock. Aew literally revived this man's career

Him in roh was great as he's a part timer. I pretty much disagree with your entire post, tony has booked shibata better than new Japan was ever willing to do post injury. He's also tks favorite wrestler.

Shibata is iconic, his match with Okada in 2017 is a must-watch. For a long time it looked like that was his retirment, so I'm glad he's back.
