I might be wrong on the timeline, but I believe it’s because at the time the US championship was supposed to be the primary title of the US tours but then they created a strong brand and eventually introduced the strong championships rendering the US title kind of meaningless. So, when they retired the Intercontinental championship, they had still planned on having the US championship and it felt redundant probably having both.

Personally, I think naming championships after strong was kind of silly. I would’ve just kept the US title as the main championship defend it on strong and then I would’ve just introduced United States tag team championships and the United States women’s championship.

I’m not a fan of Cass winning the title again so if that’s the case, I kinda have to ask a simple question that you just did. Why wouldn’t you just keep the belt on Fenix and let him drop it back to Mox when he was healthy?

but ya I am still not really over getting rid of the best two looking belts in the biz only to bring them both back in uglier form (im obviously getting pre-pissed they are re-doing the IC and it will be less nice )
