So been thinking, is the Small-Medium size change the hardest jump in the whole game? I feel like transitioning to medium size is extremely difficult unless you have a big surplus of funds to eat the inevitable revenue hit from rising costs.

Its made worse by production penalties and the cost of just getting on a broadcaster. Not to mention, your workers either get scalped by bigger companies, or demand way more just to stay on a written contract.

Or is the Medium-Big jump worse?

Medium-big can be hard to maintain bc of pop requirements just being high

But small-medium is ridiculous unless you have lots of funds saved up. Not just production penalties, but depending on your product you'll be required to have more hot storylines and that can be impossible to keep on top of if you don't have enough over people before growth, so then you get knocked right back down to small bc your first medium shows take the penalties in the rating

Yeah like the tiny-small jump is arguably the easiest in the game because you can just hire people from other companies still and you can have as big a roster as you want.

This one only hurt me on one save bc of the storyline penalties I'd mentioned too but I was running RIPW, SWF's developmental, so my talent pool was never going to be very over. I just had to cap my size at tiny for that one

Yeah if you're a developmental territory, you're always gonna be fucked unless you're a child company.

It is set as child from what I remember, I had no money issues at all even though they were taking a loss for developmental, it was very minor with their overall profits. I just struggled keeping popular wrestlers on the roster lol I could have signed more outside ones in my own but it didn't feel realistic

TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION
Gonna post random TEW updates here

Plum Mariko suffered a concussion (as always) and will be out until 1994, gonna have to transition her to a non-wrestling role so she doesn't literally die in the ring in this world

HELL IS NOT A MYTH
I have recently been very interested in trying to develop my own custom TEW universe. Of course, I recognize that doing such a thing is an immense task that I am very unlikely to ever complete, but it's been on my mind a lot recently, so I think I'm going to start piddling around with it soon.

I am thinking that if I were to tackle this, I would set the database in the past a fair bit. Probably mid-80s. Mostly because I think it would allow me to create a smaller world, with not as much needing to be dedicated to things like broadcasters and the like, as well as saving me from having to fill in a ton of historical data if I were to set it in the present day. My line of thinking is that it would be easier to start in the past and advance the database over the years, rather than starting in the present and trying to fill in the lore in reverse, while also potentially updating it if/when newer editions of TEW come out.

Thoughts?

By custom do you mean thunder or Cverse with completely fictional wrestlers and companies or an alternate reality irl?

I can offer up like 4 custom characters but one is Christopher McMichaels.

I would start like right at 1980 and have some dying companies for people to try and "save" in their plays but once you time shift forward in the canon for a future release of the game they get merged or just die as the world gets more modern

TOP GUY TIME

Goodbye!
That sounds like a very fun project and I'd look forward to playing it if you do go through it it! I have a large chunk of characters I've considered turning into my own universe and I got some spares you could toss in.

I would love to help fill out some jobbers if you do all the hard work tho :lol

IF I were to get a good amount of the foundation laid, I would definitely open up a thread here to allow users to pitch characters/ideas to help fill things out.

I'm going to take your advice @Chris and go with a 1980 start date. I'm thinking for this universe, I'm going to embrace a "gimmicky" vibe, and especially so in this 1980 world, where many promotions are going to have very on the nose, regionally themed names.
