World Prediction Championship 2024 | Part One

I will be taking the reigns of the WPC once again and have a couple announcements and updates regarding the new season (Season Five) for faces old and new.

The WPC Grand Prix Event Championship will continue to be used as it has become a stale part of the section, having been won 72 times by a multitude of predictors. There have been previous gimmicks/stipulation involved with 'the green belt' but the rules for the belt going into the new season will be very simple:

- the belt will be awarded to the predictor who gets the most predictions correct for one event.
- if the event is tied, there is no tie-breaker and the belt will not be awarded to anyone.
- the belt is not retained and is treated like winning a gold medal for winning an athletic event. this means at no point do you defend this title.

A new belt is being introduced to the competition - the WPC King of the Mountain Championship. This belt is awarded at the end of each calendar (an event will be marked as such) to the predictor who has the highest win % over a number of events. There will be a minimum number of events that a predictor would have participated in:

e.g. if there is seven events during a month. the predictor will have to predictor for at least four of those event etc.

This will be mean that this belt does not require 100% commitment and can still be claimed by a more casual predictor. Predictors will be informed when they have become eligible to win the belt.

However - there will also be recognition for predictors with the best Wins over each month and in the same fashion that was present in the WPC Grand Prix 2021. Cups for each month will also won, meaning that a total of twelve cup will be up for grabs over the calendar year and will be presented as shown below:

The Grand Championship will remain the top belt in the WPC and will be contested and challenged for. Unlike previous seasons, this belt will not be contested at every event and will not be determined by an overcomplicated ranking system.

Tag Team Predictions will also return to the WPC - although this not come into effect upon the new season commencing.

There is also plans to bring back the Interactive Championship - but this will also not happen straight away.

A key focus unlike previous years, is that Division Rankings will be more publicly posted after events. This means that if you only care about the WWE/NXT or AEW or event just Japanese wrestling you can be considered the top predictor for your field. Unlike previous years where the winner of Promotional or Geographical Divisions were awarded a banner, the predictor who sits at the top of the rankings will instead be issued with an official WPC Championship Belt (with these needing to be made for all the divisions).

On paper the following division will exist (bolded confirmed):

- WWE Division (WWE/NXT)
- AEW Division (AEW/ROH)
- TNA Division

- NJPW Division (New Japan Pro Wrestling)
- American Indie

- Japan Division (Not NJPW)

N.B. This season will very much be open to a more committed predictor, but also a more casual predictor who doesn't want to invest in predicting for every event. I feel that Season Five should be the most accessible format of WPC, I have run and isn't going to leave people feeling they've missed out or are too late to the party.

If you have any thoughts or comments please share them below. Or any suggestions that I think I could address.

If you want to take part in the the WPC Super Series II - then please make your intent known in this thread. The first competition saw 16 predictors divided into four groups of four. With winners advancing to SF and Finals. The group formatting may be slightly different dependent on how many people sign up (but imagine the G1 as inspiration).

1) Blaze | 2) Old Jay | 3) Chris | 4) Dubble J | 5) Blaine | 6) Jeff | 7) Deadd2009 | 8) Jimmy King | 9) Cake | 10) HoHo | 11) Crocker | 12) Lethal

tagging everyone who took part in the contest last year - will only do a mass tag for the first few events (and then just tag people who took part in the more recent events)

@Jingle Fourth
@Necro
@Prison Dom
@StormTroomyrrh
@Tommy Bedlam
@Matrix
@Lady Redfield
@John McKringle
