WWE Injury Thread

Rather than creating a new thread each time Rey Mysterio injures his knee I thought that it would be a good idea to create a thread where all WWE injury news can go. Any news regarding a new injury, updates on a currently injured wrestlers or news on return dates can go in here.

Currently there is a decent list of wrestlers out due to injury including; Big Show, Jack Swagger, Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, Rey Mysterio, The Rock and Tyson Kidd.

Jack Swagger is out due to a hand injury that has required quite a few stitches;

We reported yesterday that Jack Swagger has suffered a hand injury which required stitches. Today, The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE superstar Jack Swagger has been off of television because of that injury and there were plans for him to return to television by the end of June however, he will not completely cleared to compete again until August.

I had assumed that he hadn't been used as much based on that arrest before WM but this new injury must be the case. Lucky to get back in time for SummerSlam.

Tyson Kidd also gave an update the other day saying that he was still going to be out for a couple of months, he has been injured since the start of the year.

WWE announced that Fandango suffered a concussion last week and has not received clearance yet to return to the ring despite passing an Impact test.

A few days old but hadn't been posted. It is an encouraging sign that WWE are actually preventing wrestlers that have suffered a concussion from returning to the ring until they are completely cleared. Such a change from even a few years back that they are even changing PPV title matches to ensure that these wrestlers are fully recovered.

WWE developmental talent Richie Steamboat will be undergoing back surgery with Dr. Joseph Maroon in Pittsburgh soon. He’s been out of action for months with back problems. There has ben a lot of concern over whether or not he will be able to wrestle again. With the surgery, it will be months before he can get back into action.

I had wondered what had happened with Steamboat as he has been out for quite some time. Hopefully he can get his back sorted and that he will in the end be able to return to wrestling. He has been in developmental for over three years now and I don't recall many reports of him being close to a promotion to the main roster so I wonder what WWE will do with him. From those that have seen plenty of him in FCW do you think that he has the talent to make it on the main roster if he can recover?

Steamboat is just exactly the same as Bo Dallas, all family name and fuck all personality.

Potential tag team then, The Bland leading the Bland.

He has had a long time in developmental without any real hint of movement out of there so it seems like he would be one that could be in the firing line once he has healed.

Richie Steamboat is kind of useless too me. I think he will end up being let go in the end of it all. With Fandango though hope he can come back and still be able to do well. I mean the dude was money for the WWE. He was bringing some life to the lame mid card division the WWE has now a days. So I hope he returns in full force soon enough.

I hope that he is back soon as well because they only have a short amount of time to capitalise on his popularity before the fans move on from him.

How long will they keep him in developmental for though? Around three and a half years already so they are getting to the stage where he either needs to be given a shot on the main roster or released even if his dad is an agent there. It may be better for him as well to get some more experience outside WWE and then try to return in a couple of years. Of course that is if he can return to wrestling at all.

Also because his father was not such a big name in WWF as say Ted Dibiase or Bob Orton I don't know if he will be given the same amount of time to succeed.

Swagger returning around Summerslam time might work against him as they might leave him off the card out of punishment for his misconduct. If it was a smaller show he might stand a better chance.

I will give you DiBiase as a bigger name than Steamboat but was Bob Orton really a bigger name than Ricky Steamboat?

Good point, they may actually decide to punish him for that arrest by delaying his return until after one of the biggest paydays of the year.

There are tons of guys who have been in developmental for years, there are guys who are considered sink or swim and there are guys who are considered pet projects who will be given time. Agent kids are one of them........unless you are a lost cause like a Briscoe.

Was thinking in terms of Orton being considered a "WWF Guy" and Steamboat more noted for his NWA/WCW runs but okay might have been a bad example.

There aren't too many that are there for three or four years without getting a shot at the main roster. Normally by that stage WWE just gives them a chance on the main roster to see if something clicks or they are released and then WWE look at rehiring them in the future.

While doing physical therapy this weekend, Rey Mysterio noted he is looking at being back in the ring by SummerSlam.

I will believe it when I see it. I don't know why he keeps putting himself through all these surgeries and all this rehab at his age. If he can make it to SummerSlam he should then be wrapped in cotton wool to be saved for one last run on the Road to WrestleMania.

I think that you are being a bit optimistic, let's try one three hour RAW first and then see how he goes.
